Ingredients

1 pound ground beef (80/20 blend for flavor)

1 medium onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 tablespoon ketchup

1 tablespoon mustard

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1 teaspoon ground black pepper

1 teaspoon salt

4 slices American cheese

4 soft hamburger buns

Lettuce leaves (for topping)

Sliced tomatoes (for topping)

Dill pickle slices (for serving)

Instructions

In a large skillet over medium heat, add the chopped onions and minced garlic. Sauté for about 4-5 minutes, or until the onions are translucent and fragrant.

Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground beef to the skillet. Cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks, roughly 6-8 minutes. Drain any excess fat.

Stir in the Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, mustard, smoked paprika, black pepper, and salt. Mix well and let it simmer for about 3-4 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.

While the mixture simmers, preheat the broiler in your oven.

Place the hamburger buns on a baking sheet, cut side up. Broil for about 1-2 minutes, or until toasted and golden brown. Keep an eye on them to avoid burning.

Remove the skillet from heat. Place a slice of American cheese on top of each portion of the beef mixture in the skillet. Cover with a lid for a minute or until the cheese melts.

Assemble the sandwich by placing a generous scoop of the beef mixture onto the bottom half of each toasted bun.

Top with fresh lettuce leaves, slices of tomatoes, and the top half of the bun. Serve immediately with dill pickle slices on the side.
