Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon granulated sugar

1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed

3/4 cup whole milk

1 teaspoon garlic powder (optional for a twist)

Fresh herbs (like rosemary or chives), chopped (optional)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Mix well.

Add the cold butter cubes to the dry ingredients. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, work the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs with some pea-sized pieces of butter remaining.

Stir in the cold milk gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are perfectly fine.

If using, fold in the garlic powder and chopped fresh herbs at this stage for added flavor.

Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead it a few times until it comes together. Pat it into a rectangle about 1 inch thick.

Use a sharp biscuit cutter to cut out biscuits by pressing down straight (do not twist) to ensure they rise properly. Place them on the prepared baking sheet, close together.

Brush the tops of the biscuits with a little melted butter for extra flavor.

Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until the tops are golden brown.

Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.

Prep Time: 15 minutes | Total Time: 30 minutes | Servings: 10 biscuits

                        - Presentation Tips: Serve warm, ideally with a pat of butter on top or a drizzle of honey. For a delightful twist, garnish with a sprig of fresh herb on each biscuit!
