Ingredients

2 ribeye steaks (about 1 inch thick)

Salt and freshly cracked black pepper, to taste

3 tablespoons olive oil, divided

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 small onion, thinly sliced

1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon dried basil

1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for spiciness)

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Shaved Parmesan cheese (for serving, optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Steaks: Pat the ribeye steaks dry with paper towels. Season each side generously with salt and freshly cracked black pepper.

Sear the Steaks: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Once heated, add the steaks to the skillet. Sear for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, adjusting cooking time for desired doneness. Remove the steaks from the skillet and let rest on a platter.

Sauté the Aromatics: In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium and add the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Add the minced garlic and sliced onion. Sauté until the onion is translucent and garlic is fragrant, about 2-3 minutes.

Make the Sauce: Stir in the crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, dried basil, and red pepper flakes (if using). Bring the mixture to a simmer, cooking for about 10 minutes until slightly thickened. Season with additional salt and pepper to taste.

Combine: Return the seared steaks to the skillet, spooning the tomato sauce over them. Let them cook in the sauce for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.

Serve: Transfer the steaks to plates, generously spooning the pizzaiola sauce over the top. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley and shaved Parmesan cheese, if desired.
