Ingredients

1 pound Brussels sprouts, trimmed and thinly sliced

1 tablespoon olive oil

2 cloves garlic, minced

½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust for spice level)

½ cup pecans, roughly chopped

¼ cup dried cranberries or cherries

2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar

Salt and pepper to taste

¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions

Begin by rinsing the Brussels sprouts thoroughly under cold water. Trim the ends and thinly slice each sprout to create shreds. You can also use a food processor with a shredding blade for this step to save time.

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Once hot, add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes. Sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.

Add the shredded Brussels sprouts to the skillet. Stir well to combine them with the garlic and red pepper flakes. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring frequently until the sprouts are tender but still have a slight crunch.

Stir in the chopped pecans and dried cranberries. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes to allow the pecans to toast slightly and the cranberries to plump.

Remove from heat and drizzle balsamic vinegar over the mixture. Toss everything together to ensure the vinegar is evenly distributed.

If using, sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the top while the dish is still warm. Toss gently to combine.

Taste and adjust the seasoning if needed, then serve immediately.
