Rotel Sausage & Cream Cheese Crescents

1 pound spicy Italian sausage, casings removed

1 can (10 oz) Rotel diced tomatoes with green chilies, drained

8 oz cream cheese, softened

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Fresh cilantro, chopped (for garnish)

Sour cream (for serving, optional)

Instructions
 

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

    In a skillet over medium heat, add the spicy Italian sausage. Cook until browned and cooked through, breaking it apart while it cooks. Drain any excess fat.

      Lower the heat and stir in the drained Rotel tomatoes, cream cheese, garlic powder, and onion powder. Cook until the cream cheese is fully melted and combined with the sausage mixture. Stir until smooth and evenly mixed, then remove from heat.

        On a clean surface, unroll the crescent roll dough and separate it into triangles as indicated on the package.

          Spoon a generous amount of the sausage and cream cheese mixture onto the wide end of each triangle.

            Sprinkle a bit of shredded cheddar cheese on top of the filling, then roll the dough up, starting from the wide end and rolling towards the point. Place each crescent on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

              Bake in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes or until the crescents are golden brown and cooked through.

                Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving.

                  Garnish with fresh chopped cilantro and serve with sour cream on the side if desired.
