Ingredients

1 lb (450g) ground sausage (Italian or breakfast sausage works well)

1 can (10 oz) Rotel diced tomatoes with green chilies, drained

8 oz (226g) cream cheese, softened

1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

1/4 teaspoon onion powder

1 package (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough

Fresh cilantro or parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Cook the sausage: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground sausage until browned and fully cooked, breaking it up into small pieces as it cooks. Drain excess grease if necessary.

Mix filling: In a medium-sized bowl, combine the cooked sausage, drained Rotel tomatoes, softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, garlic powder, and onion powder. Stir until the mixture is well combined and creamy.

Prepare the crescent rolls: Unroll the crescent roll dough on a clean surface and separate it into triangles according to the package instructions.

Assemble crescents: Spoon a generous amount of the sausage and cream cheese mixture onto the wider end of each crescent triangle. Roll up the dough, starting from the wider end, and place the filled crescents on the prepared baking sheet.

Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the crescents are golden brown and puffy.

Garnish and serve: Once baked, remove the crescents from the oven and let them cool slightly. Garnish with chopped fresh cilantro or parsley if desired. Serve warm as an appetizer or snack.
