Ingredients

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 medium onion, finely chopped

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes

1 teaspoon dried basil

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Salt and pepper to taste

1/2 cup heavy cream

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Fresh basil leaves for garnish

Instructions

In a medium saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat.

Add the chopped onion and sauté for about 5 minutes, or until it becomes translucent and soft.

Stir in the minced garlic and sauté for an additional minute, until fragrant.

Pour in the crushed tomatoes and mix well.

Add the dried basil, oregano, and red pepper flakes (if using). Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Allow the sauce to simmer on low heat for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.

Once the sauce has thickened slightly, stir in the heavy cream, mixing until fully incorporated.

Remove the saucepan from heat and fold in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth.

Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.

Serve the sauce over cooked ravioli, and garnish with fresh basil leaves.
