pizza sauce

pepperoni slices

Instructions
Start by preheating a skillet over medium heat.
Take two slices of sourdough bread and spread a thin layer of pizza sauce on one side of each slice.
Sprinkle half of the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the sauce on both slices.
Layer your choice of toppings, like pepperoni, red bell peppers, or olives, on top of the cheese.
Add the remaining mozzarella cheese on top of the toppings.
Place the other two slices of sourdough bread on top, sauce side facing inward, creating a sandwich.
Brush the outside of the sandwiches with olive oil and sprinkle with garlic powder, oregano, salt, and pepper.
Carefully place the sandwiches in the heated skillet. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on one side or until golden brown and crispy.
Flip the sandwiches carefully, and cook for another 3-4 minutes until the other side is also golden brown and the cheese is melted.
Once done, remove the sandwiches from the skillet and let them cool for a minute before slicing them in half.
Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired and serve with extra pizza sauce for dipping.
