Ingredients

1 lb (450g) ground beef

1 small head of green cabbage, chopped

1 medium onion, thinly sliced

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 inch fresh ginger, grated

1 bell pepper, sliced (any color)

3 tablespoons soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)

Salt and pepper to taste

Green onions, sliced (for garnish)

Sesame seeds (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Ingredients: Wash and chop the cabbage, slice the onion and bell pepper, and mince the garlic and ginger.

Cook the Beef: In a large skillet or wok, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.

Sauté Aromatics: Once the beef is cooked, push it to one side of the skillet. In the cleared space, add minced garlic and grated ginger. Sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

Add Vegetables: To the skillet, add the sliced onion and bell pepper. Stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until they start to soften.

Incorporate Cabbage: Add the chopped cabbage to the skillet, along with the soy sauce, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes. Toss everything together and cook for an additional 5-7 minutes until the cabbage is wilted and tender but still has a slight crispness.

Taste and Adjust: Taste the stir fry and adjust seasoning with more soy sauce, salt, or pepper if desired.

Serve: Remove from heat and garnish with sliced green onions and a sprinkle of sesame seeds if using.
