Ingredients

2 cups whole milk

1/2 cup heavy cream

1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (or dark chocolate, chopped)

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Pinch of sea salt

Whipped cream for topping

Chocolate shavings or cocoa powder for garnish

Instructions

In a medium saucepan, combine the whole milk and heavy cream over medium heat, stirring occasionally until it begins to warm (do not let it boil).

While the milk mixture is heating, in a separate bowl, whisk together the cocoa powder, sugar, and a pinch of sea salt until well combined.

Once the milk and cream are warm, gradually add the cocoa mixture to the saucepan, whisking continuously to ensure there are no lumps. Keep stirring until fully incorporated.

Add the semi-sweet chocolate chips (or chopped dark chocolate) to the saucepan. Continue to stir until the chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is smooth.

Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract.

Pour the hot chocolate into mugs, and top each serving generously with whipped cream.

Finish with chocolate shavings or a sprinkle of cocoa powder for an elegant touch.

                Prep Time: 5 minutes | Total Time: 15 minutes | Servings: 2

                  - Presentation Tips: Serve the hot chocolate in clear glass mugs to showcase the rich color, and for an extra touch, drizzle some chocolate syrup inside the glass before pouring in the hot chocolate.
