Ingredients

4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 tablespoon unsalted butter

1 medium onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup chicken broth

1/2 cup Irish whiskey-flavored non-alcoholic sauce (or a blend of apple cider vinegar and honey for a similar flavor)

1 cup heavy cream

2 teaspoons fresh thyme, chopped (or 1 teaspoon dried)

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Prepare the Chicken: Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper on both sides.

Sear the Chicken: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the chicken breasts and cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.

Sauté Aromatics: In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium and add the butter. Once melted, add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.

Create the Sauce: Pour in the chicken broth and the non-alcoholic whiskey-flavored sauce (or the vinegar-honey mixture). Scrape up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet for added flavor. Bring the mixture to a simmer and let it cook for about 5 minutes.

Add Cream and Thyme: Stir in the heavy cream and fresh thyme, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly, approximately 3-5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Combine Chicken and Sauce: Return the chicken breasts to the skillet, spooning the sauce over them. Let them simmer for another 2-3 minutes, ensuring they are warmed through.

Serve: Plate the chicken breasts and generously ladle the whiskey cream sauce over the top.
