1 sheet of puff pastry, thawed

100g sliced ham

150g grated cheese (cheddar or gouda)

1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

1 tablespoon dijon mustard

1 teaspoon dried oregano

Salt and pepper to taste

Sesame seeds (optional, for topping)

Instructions
 

Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

    On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry sheet to smoothen it. Cut the pastry into rectangles, approximately 10cm x 6cm (4in x 2.5in).

      Spread a thin layer of dijon mustard over each rectangle.

        Lay a slice of ham on each piece of puff pastry, then sprinkle generously with the grated cheese.

          Season with dried oregano, salt, and pepper to taste.

            Fold the puff pastry over the filling to form a stick, pressing the edges to seal. Use a fork to crimp the seams.

              Brush the tops of the sticks with the beaten egg to give them a golden finish.

                If desired, sprinkle sesame seeds on top for extra crunch.

                  Place the ham and cheese sticks on the prepared baking sheet, ensuring they are spaced apart.

                    Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until they are puffed and golden brown.

                      Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
