Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1 cup diced cooked ham

1 cup milk

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C) and grease an 8x8-inch baking dish or cast-iron skillet.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Whisk until well combined.

Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese and diced ham, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the flour mixture.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk and melted butter until combined.

Pour the milk mixture into the dry ingredients and stir gently, just until combined. Be careful not to overmix; it's okay if there are a few lumps.

Pour the batter into the greased baking dish, spreading it out evenly.

Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Once baked, remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing into squares or wedges.

                    - Presentation Tips: Serve warm, drizzled with a bit of melted butter on top and garnished with fresh chives or parsley for a pop of color. Enjoy with a side of honey mustard for dipping!
