Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon garlic powder

½ teaspoon black pepper

½ cup cold butter, cubed

1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1 cup diced ham (preferably smoked or honey-cured)

1 cup whole milk

4 tablespoons melted butter (for swimming)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, and black pepper. Whisk until well combined.

Add the cold butter cubes into the dry ingredients. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese and diced ham until evenly distributed throughout the mixture.

Pour in the whole milk and gently mix until just combined. Do not overmix; a few lumps are okay.

In the greased baking dish, pour the melted butter evenly over the bottom.

Drop spoonfuls of the biscuit dough onto the butter, making sure they have a bit of space between them. The dough should form about 12-15 biscuits.

Bake in the preheated oven for about 18-20 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and fluffy.

Remove from oven and let them cool for a couple of minutes before serving.

Prep Time: 15 minutes | Total Time: 35 minutes | Servings: 12-15 biscuits

                      - Presentation Tips: Serve the biscuits warm in a rustic basket lined with a cloth napkin. Drizzle extra melted butter on top and sprinkle with fresh chopped chives for a pop of color.
