Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 cup diced ham

1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1 cup buttermilk

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Whisk together until well blended.

Stir in the diced ham and shredded cheese until evenly distributed in the dry mixture.

In a separate bowl, mix the buttermilk and melted butter together.

Pour the buttermilk mixture into the dry ingredients. Stir until just combined; do not overmix. The batter should be lumpy.

In a large cast-iron skillet (or a baking dish), add the remaining melted butter to the bottom of the skillet, swirling to coat the sides.

Spoon the biscuit batter into the hot skillet, spacing them evenly apart. The batter will spread slightly as it bakes.

Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown on top and cooked through.

Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

                      - Presentation Tips: Serve the biscuits warm, brushed with a little extra melted butter for shine, and garnish with chopped chives or parsley for a fresh touch. Enjoy with a side of honey or hot sauce for added flavor!
