Grilled Italian Sausage

4 Italian sausages (mild or spicy)

2 red bell peppers, seeded and sliced

1 yellow bell pepper, seeded and sliced

1 large onion, thinly sliced

4 cloves garlic, minced

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon dried basil

Salt and pepper, to taste

Fresh basil leaves for garnish

Crusty Italian bread, for serving

Instructions
 

Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.

    In a large bowl, combine the sliced red and yellow bell peppers, onion, minced garlic, olive oil, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and pepper. Toss everything together until the vegetables are well-coated.

      Place the seasoned vegetables in a grill basket or wrap them in aluminum foil, creating a pocket. If using foil, poke a few holes in the top for steam to escape.

        Place the vegetables on the grill and cook for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the peppers and onions are tender and slightly charred.

          While the vegetables are grilling, place the Italian sausages directly on the grill. Cook them for about 12-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until they are browned and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 160°F or 70°C).

            Once cooked, remove the sausages from the grill and let them rest for a few minutes before slicing if desired.

              To serve, place the sausages on a platter alongside the grilled vegetables. Garnish with fresh basil leaves.

                Serve with crusty Italian bread for a perfect meal.
