Ingredients

1 lb ground beef (80/20 for juiciness)

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

4 slices of cheddar cheese

4 slices of bread (Texas toast or your choice)

2 tablespoons butter, softened

1 cup fresh spinach (optional)

1 tomato, sliced (optional)

Ketchup and mustard to taste

Instructions

Prepare the Patties: In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined, then form the mixture into 4 equally sized patties. Make a small indent in the center of each patty with your thumb to prevent puffing during cooking.

Grill the Patties: Preheat your grill or stovetop grill pan over medium-high heat. Place the patties on the grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side. Flip the burgers, and place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty. Grill for another 3-4 minutes until the cheese is melted and the patties are cooked to your desired doneness.

Prepare the Bread: While the burgers are grilling, butter one side of each slice of bread. In a separate pan over medium heat, toast the bread butter-side down until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes.

Assemble the Burgers: Once the patties and bread are ready, start assembling the burgers. Place a cheesy patty on one slice of toasted bread. Add fresh spinach, a slice of tomato (if using), ketchup, and mustard. Top with another slice of toasted bread.

Final Grill: For an extra crispy finish, return the assembled burgers to the pan and grill each side for an additional 2-3 minutes, until the bread is golden and crispy.
