To make a great breakfast sandwich, you need quality ingredients. The best ingredients for breakfast sandwiches often include eggs, cheese, and bread. I love using large eggs for their rich flavor and texture. Smoked gouda cheese adds a nice creaminess and depth to the dish. Whole grain bread gives a nutty taste and holds everything together.

Ingredients

4 large eggs

4 slices of smoked gouda cheese

4 slices of whole grain bread

1 avocado, sliced

4 slices of crispy cooked bacon or turkey bacon

1 tablespoon butter

2 tablespoons mayonnaise

1 teaspoon sriracha sauce (optional)

Salt and pepper, to taste

Fresh arugula or spinach (for garnish)

Instructions

Prepare the Ingredients: Gather all ingredients and lay them out on a clean surface for easy access.

Cook the Eggs: Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Crack the eggs into the pan, cooking them sunny-side up or to your preferred doneness. Season with salt and pepper. Once cooked, place a slice of gouda cheese on each egg, allowing it to melt slightly.

Toast the Bread: In a separate griddle or pan, add the butter and allow it to melt. Place the slices of whole grain bread on the griddle and toast until golden brown on both sides, approximately 2-3 minutes per side.

Assemble the Sandwich: On one slice of toasted bread, spread a thin layer of mayonnaise. If you like a little heat, mix sriracha into the mayonnaise before spreading. Layer in the crispy bacon, a slice of avocado, and a cheesy egg. Top with fresh arugula or spinach, then place another slice of bread on top.

Press and Heat: Gently press the sandwich down using a spatula to meld the ingredients together and warm it through for an additional minute on the griddle.

Serve: Slice the sandwich in half, serve immediately, and enjoy your hearty breakfast!
