Ingredients

1 medium onion, finely chopped

2 tablespoons butter

1 teaspoon olive oil

1 teaspoon sugar

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon pepper

1 cup beef broth

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce (optional)

1 cup shredded Gruyère cheese

1 package refrigerated biscuit dough

Fresh thyme leaves, for garnish

Instructions

In a medium skillet, heat the butter and olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, salt, and sugar. Sauté for about 10 minutes until the onions are caramelized and golden brown.

Stir in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce (if using). Bring to a simmer and let cook for an additional 5-7 minutes until the liquid reduces slightly. Remove from heat and mix in the shredded Gruyère cheese until melted. Allow the mixture to cool slightly.

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Open the package of biscuit dough and separate the biscuits. Flatten each biscuit into a circle using your fingers or a rolling pin.

Place a spoonful of the caramelized onion and cheese mixture in the center of each flattened biscuit. Carefully fold the edges of the biscuit over the filling and pinch to seal.

Place the sealed biscuit bombs seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.

Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the biscuit bombs are golden brown.

Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly before serving. Garnish with fresh thyme leaves.
