Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x5 inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the pumpkin puree, applesauce, vegetable oil, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Mix until well combined and smooth.
Beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated before adding the next.
In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and salt until evenly mixed.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the pumpkin mixture, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts (if using) until evenly distributed throughout the batter.
Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
Bake in the preheated oven for 60-70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Once baked, remove the bread from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Serve sliced with a dusting of powdered sugar or a smear of cream cheese. Great for gifting!
