Ingredients

1 medium head of green cabbage, chopped

1 pound ground beef

1 onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes, undrained

1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

Salt and pepper to taste

1 cup cooked rice (white or brown)

1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella)

2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.

Add the minced garlic, and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.

Increase the heat to medium-high, add the ground beef to the skillet, and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess grease if necessary.

Add the diced tomatoes (with juice), tomato sauce, Italian seasoning, smoked paprika, and season with salt and pepper. Stir well to combine.

In a large bowl, mix together the cooked rice and chopped cabbage.

Pour half of the meat mixture into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, then layer half of the cabbage and rice mixture over it. Repeat the layers, finishing with the remaining meat mixture on top.

Sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly over the top layer.

Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.

Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

Once done, let it cool for 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving.

                        Prep Time: 15 minutes | Total Time: 55 minutes | Servings: 6
