Ingredients

1 package of puff pastry (thawed)

1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1/2 cup cooked bacon, crumbled

2-3 jalapeno peppers, finely chopped (seeds removed for less heat)

3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika

Salt and pepper to taste

Optional: Fresh cilantro, chopped, for garnish

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Roll out the thawed puff pastry on a lightly floured surface into a rectangular shape, approximately 10x12 inches.

Cut the puff pastry into 1-inch wide strips lengthwise.

In a small bowl, mix together the melted butter, minced garlic, oregano, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Brush half of this garlic butter mixture over the strips of puff pastry.

Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over half of the strips, making sure to leave a bit of pastry at the edges.

Evenly distribute the crumbled bacon and chopped jalapenos over the cheese.

Fold the other half of the pastry strips over the filling and press down gently to seal.

Twist each strip a few times to create a spiral shape, then place each twist on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them apart.

Brush the tops of the twists with the remaining garlic butter mixture.

Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the twists are golden brown and puffed up.

Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving.

Garnish with fresh chopped cilantro if desired and serve warm.

Prep Time: 15 minutes | Total Time: 35 minutes | Servings: 12 twists
