Ingredients

1 large green cabbage, chopped

1 lb ground beef or turkey

1 medium onion, diced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 carrot, diced

2 celery stalks, diced

1 can (15 oz) crushed tomatoes

6 cups beef or vegetable broth

1 cup uncooked rice (white or brown)

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

2 teaspoons dried thyme

2 teaspoons smoked paprika

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

In a large pot or Dutch oven, heat a drizzle of olive oil over medium heat. Add the onions, carrots, and celery. Cook until softened, about 5-7 minutes.

Add minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.

Crumble the ground beef or turkey into the pot and cook until browned and cooked through. Drain any excess fat if needed.

Stir in the chopped cabbage and cook for about 5 minutes until it begins to wilt.

Add crushed tomatoes, broth, uncooked rice, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil.

Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover, and let it simmer for about 25-30 minutes, or until the rice is cooked and the cabbage is tender. Stir occasionally.

Taste and adjust seasoning as needed before serving.

Serve hot, garnished with freshly chopped parsley.
