Ingredients

2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour

2 tablespoons granulated sugar

1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) instant yeast

½ teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon ground cinnamon

½ cup whole milk, warmed

¼ cup unsalted butter, melted

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

½ cup packed brown sugar

1 tablespoon ground cinnamon (for filling)

Vegetable oil (for frying)

Powdered sugar (for glazing)

Instructions

In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of flour, granulated sugar, instant yeast, salt, and ½ teaspoon of ground cinnamon. Mix well.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the warm milk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract until well combined.

Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry mix, stirring to combine.

Slowly mix in additional flour (up to ¼ cup) until a soft dough forms.

Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes, until smooth and elastic.

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 30-40 minutes, or until doubled in size.

While the dough is rising, prepare the cinnamon filling by mixing the brown sugar and 1 tablespoon of cinnamon in a small bowl. Set aside.

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out to about ½ inch thick rectangle.

Evenly sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the dough, then roll it tightly into a log to form a roll.

Cut the roll into 1-inch thick pieces to form doughnuts.

Heat vegetable oil in a deep pot to 350°F (175°C). Gently place 2-3 doughnuts into the hot oil at a time, cooking for about 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown.

Use a slotted spoon to transfer cooked doughnuts to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Once cooled slightly, dust the doughnuts with powdered sugar to glaze.

Prep Time: 40 min | Total Time: 1 hr 10 min | Servings: 12 doughnuts

                              - Presentation Tips: Serve the doughnuts warm on a decorative platter, drizzled with additional melted butter and a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar for an extra touch!
