Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed

3/4 cup buttermilk

1 pound breakfast sausage (bulk or casings removed)

1/4 cup all-purpose flour (for gravy thickening)

2 cups whole milk

Salt and black pepper to taste

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

2 large eggs

Fresh chives, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).

Make the Biscuits: In a large bowl, mix 2 cups flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in the buttermilk until just combined.

Form the Biscuit Base: On a lightly floured surface, gently knead the dough a few times. Pat it into a rectangle about 1-inch thick. Cut out biscuits using a round cutter or a glass. Lay the biscuits side by side on a greased baking sheet.

Bake the Biscuits: Bake the biscuits for about 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.

Prepare the Sausage Gravy: While the biscuits bake, cook the sausage in a large skillet over medium heat until browned. Add 1/4 cup of flour and stir to coat the sausage. Gradually whisk in the whole milk, bring to a simmer, and continue stirring until thickened, about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Assemble the Pizza: Once the biscuits are done, remove them from the oven and let them cool slightly. Press down gently on each biscuit to flatten them into pizza crusts.

Add Toppings: Spread a generous layer of sausage gravy on each biscuit base. Crack an egg on top of each (you may have to do this carefully to avoid breaking the yolk). Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the eggs and gravy.

Bake the Pizza: Return the assembled pizzas to the oven and bake for an additional 10-12 minutes, or until the eggs are cooked to your desired doneness and the cheese is melted.

Garnish and Serve: Remove the pizza from the oven, let cool slightly, and garnish with fresh chopped chives before slicing into wedges.

                    Prep Time: 20 minutes | Total Time: 40 minutes | Servings: 4

                      - Presentation Tips: Serve the breakfast pizzas on a wooden cutting board, garnished with additional chives and a side of fresh fruit for a delightful breakfast spread.
