1 tablespoon baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 cup buttermilk

1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded

1 cup cooked ground beef, seasoned (salt, pepper, onion powder)

1/4 cup fresh chives, chopped (optional)

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted (for swimming)

Instructions
 

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.

    In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, and black pepper until well combined.

      Create a well in the center of the dry ingredients and add the melted butter and buttermilk. Stir until just combined, being careful not to overmix.

        Gently fold in the shredded cheese, cooked ground beef, and chopped chives until evenly distributed throughout the dough.

          Drop spoonfuls of the biscuit dough into the prepared baking dish, leaving some space between them as they will expand while cooking.

            Pour the 1/4 cup of melted butter evenly over the biscuits, allowing them to ‘swim’ in butter. This will create a deliciously rich flavor and texture.

              Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes or until the tops are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
