Ingredients

4 large croissants

8 slices of ham (preferably honey or smoked)

8 slices of Swiss cheese

2 tablespoons Dijon mustard

1 tablespoon honey (optional)

1 tablespoon butter, melted

Freshly cracked black pepper to taste

Fresh herbs (like thyme or chives) for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Slice each croissant in half horizontally to create pockets for the filling.

In a small bowl, mix the Dijon mustard and honey (if using) until combined. Spread this mixture evenly on the inside of each croissant half.

Layer 2 slices of ham on the bottom half of each croissant, followed by 2 slices of Swiss cheese.

Place the top half of the croissant over the filled bottom half.

Arrange the filled croissants on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the tops of the croissants with melted butter for a golden finish.

Sprinkle freshly cracked black pepper on top for added flavor.

Bake in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes, or until the croissants are golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Once baked, remove from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired.
