Ingredients

  • 1 pound fresh edamame (in pods)
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon fresh cilantro, chopped (for garnish)
  • sea salt (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Start by bringing a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the edamame pods and cook for about 5-6 minutes, or until tender but still firm.
  2. While the edamame is cooking, heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sesame oil and minced garlic, sautéing for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.
  3. Add the soy sauce, red pepper flakes, and rice vinegar to the skillet, stirring well to combine. Let it simmer for another minute to allow the flavors to meld together.
  4. Once the edamame is cooked, drain and immediately transfer it to the skillet with the sauce. Toss the edamame in the spicy garlic mixture until thoroughly coated.
  5. Season with a little sea salt to taste and remove from heat.
  6. Transfer the spicy garlic edamame to a serving bowl and garnish with fresh cilantro.

💡 Chef's Notes

Adjust the red pepper flakes to your desired spice level.
