Simple Homemade Roti John Delightful and Easy Meal
Ingredients
- 4 pieces soft sandwich bread or baguette-style bread
- 250 g minced chicken or lamb
- 2 large eggs
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ginger paste
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon chili sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
- to taste fresh cilantro or parsley, chopped
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine the minced meat, chopped onion, minced garlic, ginger paste, soy sauce, chili sauce, black pepper, and turmeric powder. Mix well until the ingredients are thoroughly combined.
- In a separate bowl, crack the eggs and whisk them until well beaten. Set aside.
- Heat a tablespoon of oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat.
- Take a slice of the sandwich bread and dip one side in the beaten eggs, ensuring it's well coated. Let the excess drip off.
- Place the egg-coated side of the bread onto the skillet, and immediately spoon a portion of the meat mixture onto the bread, spreading it evenly.
- Dip another piece of bread in the egg and place it on top of the meat mixture, egg side facing down, forming a sandwich.
- Cook for about 2-3 minutes or until the bottom is golden brown. Carefully flip the sandwich over and drizzle a bit more oil around the edges. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the second side is also golden brown and the meat is cooked through.
- Remove from the skillet and let it cool slightly before cutting it in half.
- Garnish with fresh cilantro or parsley before serving.
