Savory Mississippi Beef Noodles Recipe for Comfort Meal
Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs chuck roast
- 1 packet (1 oz) ranch dressing mix
- 1 packet (1 oz) au jus gravy mix
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup beef broth
- 0.5 cup pepperoncini peppers, sliced (with some juice)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 8 oz egg noodles
- to taste salt and pepper
- for garnish fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
- In a large skillet or Dutch oven, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Season the chuck roast with salt and pepper, then sear it on all sides until browned, about 4-5 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant. Add beef broth, ranch dressing mix, au jus gravy mix, and sliced pepperoncini (along with some juice) to the skillet. Stir well.
- Return the seared chuck roast to the skillet, ensuring it is submerged in the liquid.
- Cover the skillet and reduce the heat to low. Let the beef cook for about 3 hours, or until it is tender and shreds easily with a fork. Alternatively, you can use a slow cooker for this step on low for 6-8 hours.
- About 15-20 minutes before the beef is done, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the egg noodles and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- Once the beef is cooked, remove it from the skillet and shred it with two forks. Return the shredded beef to the skillet and stir well to combine with the sauce.
- Add the cooked egg noodles to the beef mixture in the skillet. Toss everything together until the noodles are well coated in the savory sauce.
- Place the savory beef noodles onto plates or in shallow bowls. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley for a pop of color.
💡 Chef's Notes
Serve in deep bowls with a sprinkle of extra parsley on top for freshness. A side of steamed vegetables would complement the dish beautifully!
