Protein Banana Bread Easy and Healthy Recipe
Ingredients
- 3 whole ripe bananas, mashed
- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- 0.5 cup protein powder (vanilla or unflavored)
- 0.5 cup Greek yogurt
- 0.25 cup honey or maple syrup
- 0.25 cup almond milk (or any milk of choice)
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 0.5 tsp baking powder
- 0.5 tsp salt
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 0.5 cup walnuts or pecans, chopped (optional)
- 0.25 cup dark chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed bananas with the Greek yogurt, honey (or maple syrup), and eggs. Mix until well combined and smooth.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the whole wheat flour, protein powder, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the banana mixture, stirring gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- Fold in the almond milk, chopped nuts, and dark chocolate chips if using. Ensure everything is evenly distributed.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top using a spatula.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 55-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Once baked, remove from the oven and allow the banana bread to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Slice and serve the banana bread, enjoying it plain or with a spread of nut butter if desired.
