Irresistible Avocado Bacon Grilled Cheese Sandwich Recipe
Ingredients
- 2 slices sourdough bread
- 1 whole ripe avocado, sliced
- 4 slices crispy cooked bacon
- 2 slices sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 tablespoon butter, softened
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- to taste salt and pepper
- optional fresh arugula or spinach for added freshness
Instructions
- Spread the softened butter evenly on one side of each slice of sourdough bread. Sprinkle garlic powder on the buttered side for added flavor.
- On the unbuttered side of one slice of bread, layer one slice of cheddar cheese, followed by the bacon slices, avocado slices, and if desired, a handful of fresh arugula or spinach. Top with the second slice of cheddar cheese. Close the sandwich with the second slice of bread, buttered side up.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat. Once hot, place the assembled sandwich in the skillet. Grill for about 3-4 minutes on one side until golden brown and crispy.
- Carefully flip the sandwich with a spatula and grill the other side for another 3-4 minutes until the cheese is melted and both sides are golden brown.
- Once cooked, remove the sandwich from the skillet and let it sit for a minute. Cut it in half diagonally to reveal the delicious layers.
