Honey-Lime Grilled Shrimp Skewers Bursting with Flavor
Ingredients
- 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 0.25 cup honey
- 2 tablespoons lime juice (freshly squeezed)
- 1 zest lime
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 0.5 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for heat)
- to taste salt and pepper
- as needed bamboo or metal skewers
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the honey, lime juice, lime zest, minced garlic, ground cumin, red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and pepper. Add the shrimp to the bowl, ensuring they are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to marinate.
- Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. If using bamboo skewers, soak them in water for 20-30 minutes to prevent burning.
- Thread the marinated shrimp onto the skewers, leaving a little space between each shrimp for even cooking.
- Place the skewers on the grill and cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until the shrimp are pink and opaque. Avoid overcooking to keep them tender.
- Once cooked, remove the skewers from the grill. You can drizzle extra honey over them for added sweetness and lime juice for brightness.
- Pair the shrimp skewers with a fresh salad, grilled vegetables, or a side of rice for a complete meal.
