Ham and Cheese Butter Swim Biscuits Simple Recipe
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 cup diced cooked ham
- 0.5 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup milk
- 1 tablespoon fresh chives, chopped (optional)
- to taste black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, and black pepper.
- Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese and diced ham until evenly distributed.
- In a separate bowl, mix the melted butter and milk together until well combined.
- Pour the butter and milk mixture into the dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; it’s okay if some lumps remain.
- Using a large spoon or ice cream scoop, drop the biscuit dough into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, leaving space between each scoop.
- Pour any remaining melted butter over the top of the biscuits.
- If desired, sprinkle chopped chives on top for added flavor and color.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-18 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and the biscuits are cooked through.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving.
💡 Chef's Notes
Serve warm directly from the baking dish, with a sprinkle of extra chives on top for garnish. Pair them with honey mustard or a spicy aioli on the side for dipping!
