Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 2 lb ground pork
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 2 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 egg
  • 1 4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon allspice
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil (for frying)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 2 cup sour cream
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef and ground pork. Add the breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan, finely chopped onion, minced garlic, egg, milk, nutmeg, allspice, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined, but do not overmix.
  2. Preheat a large skillet over medium heat and add the olive oil.
  3. Form small meatballs (about 1 inch in diameter) and place them in the skillet. Cook the meatballs for about 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally until they're golden brown and cooked through. Remove the meatballs from the skillet and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add the butter and allow it to melt. Whisk in the flour, cooking for about 1 minute until golden. Gradually stir in the beef broth, ensuring there are no lumps.
  5. Once the sauce thickens, reduce the heat and swirl in the sour cream. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Add the cooked meatballs back into the skillet and stir gently to coat them in sauce. Simmer for an additional 5 minutes.
  7. Serve the meatballs warm, garnished with chopped fresh parsley.

💡 Chef's Notes

Serve the meatballs over creamy mashed potatoes or cooked egg noodles, drizzled with extra sauce and a sprinkle of parsley for a lovely touch.
