Dreamy Sugar Plum Cookies Soft and Flavorful Delight
Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 cup dried plums (prunes), finely chopped
- 1/2 cup walnuts, chopped (optional)
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for dusting)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
- Gently fold in the finely chopped dried plums and walnuts if using, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the dough.
- Using a tablespoon or cookie scoop, drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden. The centers may look slightly underbaked, which is perfect for that soft texture.
- Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once cooled, dust the tops of the cookies with powdered sugar for a snowy finish.
💡 Chef's Notes
