Ingredients

  • 2 whole ripe bananas
  • 0.5 cup Nutella
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 4 slices whole grain or brioche bread
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon honey (optional)
  • 1 pinch sea salt
  • 0 to taste chopped hazelnuts (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

  1. Start by heating a skillet over medium heat. Add the butter and let it melt, coating the bottom of the skillet evenly.
  2. While the butter is melting, prepare the bread. Spread a generous amount of Nutella on one side of each slice of bread.
  3. Once the skillet is hot, place two slices of bread, Nutella side up, onto the skillet.
  4. Layer sliced bananas and strawberries evenly over the Nutella.
  5. Top with the remaining two slices of bread, Nutella side down, creating a sandwich.
  6. Cook for about 3-4 minutes until the bottom is golden brown. Carefully flip the sandwiches using a spatula and cook the other side for another 3-4 minutes, or until golden and crispy.
  7. Once cooked, remove the sandwiches from the skillet and let them cool for a minute.
  8. Optional: Drizzle honey over the sandwiches for extra sweetness and sprinkle a pinch of sea salt to enhance flavors.
  9. Cut the sandwiches in half diagonally, and serve warm. Garnish with chopped hazelnuts if desired.
