Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • 1 package refrigerated pie crusts (2 crusts)
  • 1 egg beaten (for egg wash)
  • to taste sesame seeds (for sprinkling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef. Break it up with a spatula as it cooks. Once browned, drain any excess fat.
  3. Add the chopped onion and garlic to the skillet and sauté until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Stir in the ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and let the mixture cool slightly.
  5. Once cooled, mix in the shredded cheddar cheese until fully combined.
  6. Roll out the pie crusts on a floured surface and cut them into circles approximately 5 inches in diameter.
  7. Place a heaping tablespoon of the cheeseburger filling in the center of each circle.
  8. Fold the crust over to create a pocket and press the edges to seal. Use a fork to crimp the edges for added decoration.
  9. Brush the tops of the hand pies with beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds for extra crunch and flavor.
  10. Place the hand pies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
  11. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
