Caprese Stuffed Chicken Flavorful and Easy Recipe
Ingredients
- 4 pieces boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 cup fresh basil leaves, roughly chopped
- 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 2 tablespoons balsamic glaze
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- to taste salt
- to taste pepper
- as needed toothpicks or kitchen twine for securing
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a medium bowl, mix together the chopped basil, halved cherry tomatoes, and shredded mozzarella cheese until well combined.
- Take each chicken breast and make a deep pocket in the side, taking care not to cut all the way through.
- Stuff each chicken breast with the basil, tomato, and mozzarella mixture, pressing down gently to ensure they are filled.
- Secure the openings of the stuffed chicken breasts with toothpicks or tie them with kitchen twine to prevent the filling from spilling out during cooking.
- In a large oven-safe skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
- Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper, then sear them in the skillet for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until golden brown.
- Add minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Drizzle the balsamic glaze over the chicken and transfer the skillet to the preheated oven. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through (internal temperature of 165°F or 75°C).
- Once finished, remove from the oven, let rest for 5 minutes, and then remove the toothpicks or twine. Serve warm, drizzled with any remaining balsamic glaze.
💡 Chef's Notes
Let the chicken rest before serving for better flavor.
