Ingredients

  • 4 large croissants
  • 8 slices ham (preferably honey or smoked)
  • 8 slices Swiss cheese
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon honey (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted
  • to taste freshly cracked black pepper
  • for garnish fresh herbs (like thyme or chives) (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Slice each croissant in half horizontally to create pockets for the filling.
  3. In a small bowl, mix the Dijon mustard and honey (if using) until combined. Spread this mixture evenly on the inside of each croissant half.
  4. Layer 2 slices of ham on the bottom half of each croissant, followed by 2 slices of Swiss cheese.
  5. Place the top half of the croissant over the filled bottom half.
  6. Arrange the filled croissants on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the tops of the croissants with melted butter for a golden finish.
  7. Sprinkle freshly cracked black pepper on top for added flavor.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes, or until the croissants are golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Once baked, remove from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired.

💡 Chef's Notes

Optional honey can be added for a touch of sweetness.
