Apple Pie Stuffed Cinnamon Rolls Delightful Dessert Treat
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 0.25 cup granulated sugar
- 1 packet active dry yeast (2 1/4 tsp)
- 0.5 cup warm milk (110°F/43°C)
- 0.25 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 0.5 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- 1 cup apple pie filling (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 0.5 cup brown sugar
- 0.25 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 0.5 cup powdered sugar (for icing)
- 1 to 2 tablespoons milk (for icing)
Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine warm milk and sugar. Sprinkle yeast over the top and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour, melted butter, egg, and salt. Add the yeast mixture once it's bubbly. Mix until a dough forms, then knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a rectangle (about 12x18 inches).
- Spread softened butter evenly over the dough. In a bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon, then sprinkle over the buttered dough.
- Gently spoon the apple pie filling evenly across the dough, then drizzle lemon juice over the top for freshness.
- Starting from one edge, tightly roll the dough into a log. Slice into 12 equal pieces and place them in a greased baking dish.
- Cover and let the rolls rise again for 30 minutes. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
- In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar and milk to make the icing. Adjust consistency if needed. Drizzle over warm cinnamon rolls before serving.
