Ingredients

  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 0.5 cup teriyaki sauce (homemade or store-bought)
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce (low sodium)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds (for garnishing)
  • 2 green onions chopped (for garnishing)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine teriyaki sauce, honey, soy sauce, grated ginger, minced garlic, sesame oil, and black pepper. Stir well to mix.
  2. Add the bite-sized chicken pieces to the marinade, ensuring they are fully coated. Cover with plastic wrap and marinate in the fridge for at least 30 minutes (or up to 2 hours for deeper flavor).
  3. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 5 minutes.
  4. Once preheated, place the marinated chicken pieces in the air fryer basket in a single layer, making sure not to overcrowd them. You may need to do this in batches depending on the size of your air fryer.
  5. Cook the chicken bites for 10-12 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through cooking to ensure even crisping. They should be golden brown and cooked to an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
  6. Remove the chicken bites from the air fryer, and sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped green onions. Serve immediately while hot.

💡 Chef's Notes

For deeper flavor, marinate the chicken for up to 2 hours.
