Ingredients

  • 12 oz mozzarella cheese sticks, cut in half
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably panko for extra crunch)
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon onion powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon dried oregano
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • as needed cooking spray or olive oil spray
  • as needed marinara sauce for dipping

Instructions

  1. Cut the mozzarella cheese sticks in half and place them in the freezer for about 30 minutes.
  2. Prepare three shallow bowls: one with flour and a pinch of salt and pepper, one with whisked eggs and water, and one with breadcrumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, dried oregano, and a pinch of salt and pepper.
  3. Take a cheese stick from the freezer, roll it in the flour, dip it in the egg mixture, and then roll it in the breadcrumb mixture. Place the breaded mozzarella sticks on a plate. Repeat with all cheese sticks.
  4. Preheat your air fryer to 390°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes.
  5. Lightly spray the basket of the air fryer with cooking spray. Arrange mozzarella sticks in a single layer and spray the tops lightly with cooking spray.
  6. Air fry the mozzarella sticks for 6-8 minutes, flipping halfway through until golden brown and crispy.
  7. Once cooked, remove the mozzarella sticks from the air fryer and let them cool slightly before serving.

Serve warm with marinara sauce for dipping.
