Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and diced (preferably Granny Smith)
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.25 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.5 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until well combined.
  2. In another bowl, mix the milk, egg, and vanilla extract until smooth. Then add the diced apples and gently fold to combine.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are fine.
  4. Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C) for about 5 minutes.
  5. Lightly grease the air fryer basket with cooking spray. Using a medium cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop spoonfuls of the batter into the basket, leaving enough space between each fritter for air circulation.
  6. Air fry the fritters for 8-10 minutes, or until they are golden brown and cooked through. You may need to cook in batches depending on the size of your air fryer.
  7. While the fritters are cooking, prepare the glaze by mixing the powdered sugar and lemon juice in a small bowl until smooth.
  8. Once the fritters are done, remove them from the air fryer and let them cool slightly. Drizzle with the lemon glaze while they are still warm.

💡 Chef's Notes

Serve warm on a platter, dusted with extra powdered sugar for a charming look. Pair them with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an indulgent treat!
